Technical Help Desk Engineer
The Role:
M2 Helpdesk engineer provides software and systems engineering support to internal and external support tickets so that the M2 Group’s large-scale, distributed, hybrid systems can be used without major issues or downtimes.
We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to provide enterprise-level assistance to our internal & external customers. You will diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware problems and help our customers install & use applications and programs without problems.
Technical Support Engineer responsibilities include resolving network issues, configuring operating systems and using remote desktop connections to provide immediate support. You will use email and chat applications to give quick answers to simple IT issues. For more complex problems that require nuanced instruction, you will contact clients via phone and/or provide clear, written instructions and technical manuals.
For issues that cannot be solved by basic troubleshooting or configurations, an appropriate ticket is logged, and routed to the correct team for resolution.
Responsibilities:
Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues
Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including setup and network configuration
Ask customers (internal & external) targeted questions to quickly understand the root of the problem
Track computer system issues through to resolution, within agreed time limits
Talk clients through a series of actions, either via phone, email or chat, until they’ve solved a technical issue
Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams (e.g. software developers/infrastructure engineers etc.)
Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers
Refer to internal database or external resources to provide accurate tech solutions
Ensure all issues are properly logged
Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
Follow up with clients to ensure their IT systems are fully functional after troubleshooting
Prepare accurate and timely reports
Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals
Maintain open lines of communication and maintain cordial working relationships with clients- internal &external;Qualifications:
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field is nice to have
Additional certification in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco or similar technologies is a plus
Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician, or similar role
2+ years supporting and/or implementing Linux/Unix
Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments
Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues
Familiarity with remote desktop applications and help desk software (eg. Zendesk)
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
Ability to debug, optimize, and automate routine maintenance and monitoring tasks.
Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills
Experience and expertise of Unix/Linux operating systems
Strong understanding of Linux, Shell scripts etc
Experience in containerization with Docker, familiarity with orchestration, experience in configuration management via Ansible
Basic experience with cryptography and information security
Basic knowledge of any modern language like Go, Rust, or Python
The ability to read code (Java, Go .etc)
Can develop tools, scripts, and playbooks to speed up processes
Able to set up monitoring for the Linux servers
Understanding basic knowledge about encryption knowledge
Familiar with (BTC/ETH/COSMOS/EOS ...) node
